Friday night, my dad told me I wasn't allowed to go. I was majorly disappointed, especially cuz Katie would be speaking. More specifically, she had been asked to speak about her work as a member missionary, being involved in both my conversion and the conversion of another friend (whom I call BatMoose on the internet). (PS I've asked Katie to email me her talk so I can put it up as a guest post for you guys!)

I know that Heavenly Father had a hand in both my work schedule (I worked 11am-5:30pm, and conference was at 6pm) and in my parents' decision to allow me to go. I know that He is willing to grant us blessings when we ask for them. I know that He doesn't always rearrange my schedule so as to allow me to attend church events, but when I need to be at that event for some spiritual reason, He is more than happy to help me work it out. I know of the power of fasting and prayer in such situations. He won't give me spiritual knowledge unless I ask, right?
The speaker after Katie made a really cool point that I wanna share with you guys. We'll call him Brother Brown. His daughter, Allie, had shared the gospel with her best friend, Mikayla, who quickly decided to get baptized. When Brother Brown confirmed Mikayla, he had a distinct impression that the two girls had been friends in the premortal life, and had promised to find each other, knowing that Mikayla would not be born in the Church. I like to think that Katie, BatMoose, and I made each other similar promises. I don't know if we did or not, but it's a cool thought :)

If you have a "testimony" label and you'd like to appear on this list, comment or email me at hopealwaysandprayconstantly@gmail.com and I'll add you! Also, if you don't have a "testimony" (or something similar) label, you should create one!
Oh I just love this one! Thank you so much sfor your testimony!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was so cool to go to the "adult" session of stake conference. This was the first stake conference that the youth were invited to, and it was incredible!!!!
As always, you are such a wonderful example, and your whole life is a testament to the truthfulness of the gospel and the hastening of the work.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter to you as well! And thank you so much for your awesometastic comment :)
DeleteI loved how last night's session was focused on missionary work (at least, ours was). I love missionary work, cuz without it, I wouldn't be part of this wonderful church, and I wouldn't know anything beyond what my Catholic upbringing taught me.
Not only did they discuss member missionary work, but also family history. For me, family history will be a *major* missionary-ish endeavor, as none of my direct ancestors were members of the Church. It will be awkward, tho, cuz my mom is super uncomfortable with the concept of baptisms for the dead...

Yes ours was on hastening the work as well. I loved it!!!
DeleteAs for the baptisms for your ancestors, I know and hope that God will soften hearts and open doors so that a ton of magnificent work can be done!!! An awesome thing about you being a convert is that you probably have a ton of work to do. I think that would be so awesome, since my grandma has pretty much finished ours (though I know the work is never finished)
Holy smokes, yes, there *is* a ton of work to do. One of my friends was helping me with family history, and the LDS site (forget what it's called) linked my tree to another one it already knew about, so I'm probably related to a member someplace... but it was so far back, it's very unlikely that they've touched any of my direct ancestors. That'd be cool tho! :D
