I Have a Testimony of General Conference

General Conference is my favorite thing. I remember the first time I'd heard about it, I wondered why my friends would spend an entire weekend listening to churchy stuff. But now I totally get it :)

I love the prophet. I love the general authorities. Hearing their advice for us as members is amazing.

I have a testimony that if you pray about something, Heavenly Father can answer your prayer through conference. I know this to be true, because I have experienced it many times myself. I love taking notes on the talks as I listen, and suddenly realizing that this one is the answer that I'm looking for. And then this other one answers a question I didn't even know I had. Some cause me to think more about things I had barely worried about before. And yet another one quotes my favorite scripture and I'm reminded that Heavenly Father knows me individually and loves me very much.

This conference, I needed comfort. I needed reassurance. And that is exactly what I received. Talks by Elder L. Whitney Clayton, Elder Wilford W. Andersen, Sister Rosemary M. Wixom, Bishop Gérald Caussé, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, and Elder Joseph W. Sitati all stood out to me. My notes are full of arrows pointing to these talks, complete with exclamation points and general freaking-out-ed-ness.

This past week, I've taken  to listening to conference talks on my way to classes. I've noticed a HUGE difference in how I feel about the day. It's amazing. I've gone back to conferences before I was interested in the church, and I've listened to talks from this past weekend again and again as well. I've felt the Spirit with me in a way that I haven't much been able to since my baptism.

AND IT'S BEEN AMAZING.

Before my baptism, I made an effort to do the church things because I desperately wanted to do so. Recently, I feel as though I've fallen back to running on autopilot. This is not a thing that's okay. I feel so much better when I put conscious effort into church things. So that's the plan going forward.

And now please enjoy Elder Holland's talk because it's pretty fantastic.
